Match Updates MI Vs RR :

Mumbai indians were led by Rohit Sharma who won the toss and first chose to bat. Though Sharma and Quinton de Kock opener gave a decent start, their partnership with Quinton broke down at 23. The magnificent, unspoiled innings of Suryakumar Yadav of 79 balls and 30 (not out) by Hardik Pandya of 19 balls pose a challenging total of 193 for four balls.

The lustre of their batting lineup was absent from Rajastan Royals. Barring Jos Buttler’s 70s, none of them did well with bat, runs from 44 deliveries. The bowlers of the Mumbai Indians defended their total and gave the Royals a tough time without space for settling in. The bowl bundled the Royals with Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult for 136 in 18.1 above.

Bumrah was the star of the 4-for-20 match, registering his best figures in the IPL history. Early in the innings, he removed Rajasthan Royals skipper Steve Smith. In his second spell he scalped three more wickets, with Rachel Tewatia, Shreyas Gopal and Jofra Archer being discarded. Bumrah declared his IPL for the first time to be four wickets.

Mumbai Indians Captain Rohit Sharma :

We’re trying to play and be out there. We have a great deal of quality and the work needs to be completed. All of them have much confidence. They are all talented and on their own day they will take the game away. The conditions for the fast bowlers are helpful. It was nibbling and nice to have bowlers who could take advantage of the circumstances. We also focused a lot on our fielding, as it’s one of the game’s controls and we made a point of doing it well. I spoke with him before the game and his shot choice was perfect today. A great Surya innings were coming. We wanted him to fight till the end because he can do pretty good creativity.

Rajasthan Royals Captain Steve Smith :

I don’t think we will get off to a strong beginning in the last three games, losing wickets in the early stage. We have a bit of work to do on our batting outside Jos and Archer at the top. He’s not too far away, hopefully we can make a couple of wins and build momentum before he comes back. It’s all about fulfilling our plans and plays a nice cricket longer, I guess we don’t have to worry too much. In the last three games we were not able to do so and we must quickly turn things around. I hope it gets a lit complex.

Surya Kumar Yadav | Man of the match :

I thought it’s (a big knock), because I found ways out over the last couple of games. I just wanted to fight until the end of this time. Love the additional responsibility at the top of the order, and I was told just to play my game and talk, and I did. The lock down did not only support my leg-side pick-up shot but also support me with my off-side game. The victory of the team is very rewarding, and I had to work to achieve a perfect result in this situation until the end.
